Meet Dana Smith

Meet Dana, our Functional Patterns Human Foundations Practitioner and a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP) with advanced training in Aerospace Physiology. Dana combines a solid educational foundation with a passion for biomechanics to drive human performance to new heights.

Journey to Functional Patterns

Dana’s journey began with a background in Exercise Science from GVSU followed by studies at the Medical College of Ohio. Dana’s path then took an exciting turn to the Sonny Carter Training Facility at NASA in Houston, TX.

Dana was an avid runner and the years of high-mileage running and conventional training led to her body feeling riddled with pain and frustration. The turning point came when Dana met Victor, a Functional Patterns Practitioner, who introduced a new way to train the body. This method not only alleviated Dana’s pain but also reignited her competitive spirit of running. It also provided the tools to navigate her daily stressors productively.

Passion & Goals

As a Functional Patterns practitioner, Dana aims to create a welcoming environment for clients with diverse needs and goals. The mission is to continuously revisit and revise plans to ensure clients reach their targets and develop new skills along the way.

Dana is passionate about getting humans outside and into nature, believing this connection is vital for overall well-being. Additionally, she is focused on developing programs for children that teach them to “move with a purpose,” instilling biomechanics training from a young age.
